In addition, we offer our rolling road service as engine modifications often impact performance only at specific RPMs or for short periods. Our rolling road is the perfect tool for diagnosing these issues, allowing us to hold consistent loads and revs longer than on the road, ensuring your Jaguar is performing at its best for race day.

Finally, our logistics service takes care of all the behind-the-scenes details, such as transportation and accommodation, so that you can focus on motor racing.

Our Jaguar builds

We have extensive experience in building and upgrading Jaguars for racing and rallying, from the classic E-Type to the more modern XJS. As part of our own racing endeavours, we have built the 3.8 litre engine for our 1961 E-Type (the same engine as Jaguar MK2) where we’ve had great success recently at the Spa Six Hours and the RAC Pall Mall Cup. We are specialists in building Jaguar XK competition engines.

Thornton Racing also provide circuit racing and rally car build and upgrades for classic Jaguar enthusiasts. Our passion for Jaguars and our expertise in motorsport makes us the ideal choice for those looking to compete in classic racing events like Goodwood Revival, Spa Six Hours, Peter Auto and Masters. Our team of mechanics and engineers are well-versed in the intricacies of these cars, ensuring they perform to their full potential on the track or in the rally stage. Our race engineering service can even involve data analysis and performance optimisation, allowing you to compete at the highest level.

Preparing a car for racing involves ensuring its overall condition, addressing wear, tear, and crack testing. Essential safety equipment, like harnesses, FIA compliant fuel tanks and fire suppression systems, must be installed. Additionally, it’s necessary to secure the FIA Historical Technical Passport (HTP) to confirm the car's eligibility for racing and meet all FIA scrutineering standards to pass inspection for race participation.
