With a wealth of experience racing around the UK circuits, we thought it’s about time we embark on a rally adventure. For this event, we selected our Cip Nistorica behind the wheel of the Triumph TR4A, while Marcus Jones, dear friend and fellow Jaguar & Daimler enthusiast , was in charge of map deciphering. The event chosen was Hero Rally Novice Trial, held in the English Park Land, Oswestry area and North Wales. Although we initially prepared our 1948 Daimler DB18, it developed a critical illness on the engine side that we could not resolve in time for the start. Hero Rally came to our rescue and allowed us the use of their well sorted Triumph TR4A.

The event was organised extremely well and keeping up with all current safety standards and precautions.

Friday afternoon and Saturday were allocated for in class training and applying the learning on the training stages. Sunday was the main day of the event with 4 regularity stages and 2 tests on the kart circuit. Our crew classed 6th in class and thoroughly enjoyed the event with a promise to return in a rally car in the not so distant future.

This is what they had to say after crossing the finish line :

Cip Nistorica : After so many years going round in circles, I thought we should give rallying a go and I couldn’t be more happy to have chosen Hero Novice Trials. We enjoyed the hospitality and felt safe at all times during the event. The TR4A was a well prepared “pocket rocket” in comparison to our beloved Jaguars and I am looking forward to our next regularity rally.

Marcus Jones : I’ve not had so much fun on 4 wheels in a long time! When can we do it all again ?!
